Clinic Manager
Paty started at BIB in 2005 when the clinic moved to the new beautiful location on Byron Street. Paty started as a Wellness Assistant with Dr. Ellard and then moved on to become Clinic Manager. She tried to retire in 2015 and had some other adventures, before coming back to BIB in 2023. When you love something you can’t give it up!
Paty loves the amazing energy and teamwork at BIB, the fulfilling work and how everyone so genuinely cares for all patients and clients. Meeting people and seeing patients/clients’ wellness progress with their practitioners is one of the greatest aspects of her job. One of her favourite things to do as a manager is to find each Wellness Assistant’s individual strengths, and promote that in the work they do. The incredible amount of different services offered at BIB gives Paty endless motivation to create new ideas, strategies and marketing with practitioners to help them reach their goals. Paty also loves interior decorating as well as decorating for holidays, so you can often find her adding her touch to the clinic. Her weakness are babies and children and she loves seeing them at the clinic.
Paty and her husband have 4 kids and a large family, and Paty is happiest when their home is filled with family and friends. In her down time, she loves walking her 3 dogs in the forest, swimming, reading and travelling with her husband.
Paty strongly believes in the pillars of life balance which include health and wellness, and she feels extremely lucky to be surrounded by such a great network of amazing practitioners at BIB, both to work with and to support her own wellness.
Wellness Assistant
Jessica is one of our Wellness Assistants at the clinic, and now works remotely from PEI. If you give the clinic a call during Dr. Ellard’s shifts, you might be able to catch up with her on the phone or have her help you book your appointments from afar!
Jessica comes to the clinic as a Medical Office Admin graduate, and has many years of administrative and retail experience. Jessica has a unique ability to empathize with our patients after experiencing undiagnosed Lyme Disease and autoimmune conditions, conditions that were only improved after seeking care from various practitioners in the wellness sector.
Jessica is BIB’s Creative Coordinator, and you can enjoy seeing her fantastic work on all our in-house, social media and website signs and posters. Jessica is also well known in the clinic for her amazing attention to detail, great ability to see the bigger picture and excellent work ethic.
In her spare time, Jessica can be found going on hikes, swimming, reading, watching movies, or painting. Jessica believes in the importance of taking care of both the body and the soul, recognizing that true well-being stems from nurturing all aspects of ourselves.

Crystal was born and raised in Ottawa (Barrhaven on the Green), to be exact. She moved out west in 2006 to Calgary and then to Victoria, where she started her family. After being away for 17 years, she has moved home with her teenage daughter, ready to start a new chapter of life.
She has a great passion for food, always creating new recipes and modifying them to suit her dietary needs. Being diagnosed with IBS and having food sensitivities, she is constantly on the look out for good food she and others can enjoy.
In her free time, you can find her in her happy place in her hammock with a snack and a book. In the winter, she is either skiing or skating on the canal.
Wellness Assistant
Lindsay is a part-time wellness assistant, and full-time massage therapy student at Algonquin College. She previously completed her undergrad at McMaster University studying Sociology and Business, and did a semester abroad at the University of Bristol in the UK. While she loved her studies, she truly found her passion in the field of wellness and massage, and is eager to experience the administrative side of a clinic before becoming an RMT.
In Lindsay’s free time she loves to play with her two cats, go for hikes, walks and adventures. She loves any creative task and has dabbled in jewelry-making and candle-making.
While studying abroad she had many adventures, from road tripping across England to skiing in Austria. She has also lived in Vancouver for two summers because of her love for the mountains and the ocean. Now, she has settled in Ottawa and is excited to see what the future brings, alongside Back in Balance.
Wellness Assistant
Alexa is a wellness assistant at Back in Balance with a passion for supporting others in
their health journeys. She recently completed a two-year Culinary Nutrition diploma at George Brown College, where she discovered how deeply nutrition can impact overall wellbeing. This fall, she will continue her studies by pursuing a Nutrition and Dietetics degree, furthering her goal of helping people feel their best through food and lifestyle.
Growing up playing sports, Alexa experienced her fair share of injuries—experiences that sparked her curiosity about how to properly fuel and care for her body as an athlete. What began as personal learning soon evolved into a love for wellness, movement, and nutrition, naturally leading her to her role at Back in Balance.
Outside of work, she loves working out, playing recreational sports, and going on long walks with her dog. She also coaches a girls’ hockey team, a role that combines her athletic background with her passion for mentorship. A fun fact about her: she went on a month-long solo trip to Spain, and she’s always planning her next adventure.
Known for her organization, friendly energy, and driven personality, Alexa is excited to grow within the Back in Balance community while continuing her journey in the field of nutrition and wellness.
Wellness Assistant
I was born in Colombia, South America, and moved to Canada many years ago. My professional and personal journey has always been closely connected to the care and well-being of others.
I have a background in nursing from back home, and while becoming a mother, I began my education in Canada by studying Health Care Office Assistant. Years later, I completed two programs at Algonquin College: Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Community Justice Services, graduating with honours from both. I have had the opportunity to work in both fields, experiences that have allowed me to understand and support people from different perspectives.
I am passionate about everything related to the human body and its many dimensions. I am someone who loves to study, learn, and continue discovering new things. I truly believe that there is always something new to learn, both from our professions and from the people we encounter along the way. Continuing to grow and gain new knowledge is something I genuinely enjoy and is an important part of who I am.
Since childhood, I have been surrounded by a holistic view of the human being. My parents’ professions taught me the importance of caring for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This perspective has deeply influenced the way I understand and support others.
I am very happy to be part of the Back in Balance team, where I can continue growing and contribute to creating a holistic care experience for our patients.
Outside of work, I truly cherish the simple joys of life and, most of all, being a mother. I love spending time with my children, trying new recipes together, sharing good coffee and meaningful conversations with friends, travelling, swimming, and enjoying a good movie.
I have also loved singing since I was very young. Music and singing have always been a special way for me to express myself and connect with others. I am passionate about gastronomy and love discovering new foods and flavours from different cultures. For me, food is so much more than something we eat; it is a way of experiencing different traditions, connecting with people, and creating memories with the ones we love.
For me, well-being goes far beyond simply feeling good. I believe it begins with truly getting to know ourselves, understanding our experiences, recognizing our needs, and learning how to care for ourselves with compassion. When we build a healthy relationship with ourselves, that sense of well-being naturally extends beyond us.
The way we care for ourselves shapes the way we connect with and care for others. I believe that when we are grounded, self-aware, and intentional about our own well-being, we are better able to support, understand, and positively impact the people around us. In this way, our well-being becomes something that not only transforms us but can also create a positive ripple effect in the lives of others.
