Rachel Norman, M.Ed., RP
Registered Psychotherapist
“There is no normal life that is free of pain. It’s the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth.” – Fred Rogers
Rachel Norman is a Registered Psychotherapist who has been in private practice since 2019. She works with individuals (18+) navigating a range of challenges, including past trauma, life transitions, relationship strain, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and health-related concerns. Her approach is warm and grounded, yet direct and practical. She offers a space where clients can speak honestly about what’s hard and feel supported in facing it with care, clarity, and intention.
Rachel’s work is rooted in the belief that healing and growth don’t come from avoiding discomfort, but from cultivating steadiness, compassion, and self-trust—even when life feels uncertain. She often supports clients in reconnecting with themselves, exploring what truly matters to them, and building habits that support both mental and physical well-being.
She holds a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Rachel is also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
Her approach is tailored to individual client needs and is informed by:
-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
-Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
-Brainspotting
-Polyvagal Theory-informed interventions
-Trauma-Informed Therapy
-Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Practices
-Psychoeducation
-Exposure-Based Therapy
Rachel joins the Back in Balance team to provide virtual care to our community. Based in North Bay, ON, she also offers in-person sessions locally and is available to support clients across Ontario through virtual therapy. Most services are covered by extended health insurance plans. She keeps her practice intentionally small to provide thoughtful, personalized care.
Rachel is proud to be part of the Back in Balance team and brings her client-centered approach to our integrated model of care.
