Providing Chiropractic Care for People Just Like You

By tapping into your body’s ability to heal itself, chiropractic care seeks to discover, alleviate and remove the obstacles in your way to bring balance back to the body.

A profession that has roots in alternative health care and has continued to flourish and evolve since 1895, chiropractic care aims to diagnose, treat and prevent a variety of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions and the effects of these conditions on the function of the nervous system, body biomechanics and overall general health. This is accomplished by skilled hands through specifically targeted adjustments to joints in the spine, as well as the extremities.

The premiere chiropractic team here at Back and Balance strive to help alleviate pain and maintain your well being through a range of chiropractic techniques that are individualized to reflect what your body needs and your comfort levels.

These techniques span from very gentle Thompson drop table and activator protocols, cranial adjusting and upper cervical specific adjusting, to diversified techniques and other soft tissue approaches. Whatever your body needs, chiropractic can evolve to suit them!

We are honoured to serve our community, from the young to the wise, and proud of the success of our practice members in overcoming various health challenges, helping them get back to doing what they love most – living!

Prenatal Chiropractic Care

During pregnancy, a woman’s body adapts with the weight of her baby. As the fetus develops, the pelvis spreads and the ligaments loosen. The low back curves to compensate for the extra abdominal load while the midback curves with the weight of the breasts. Chiropractic care is very important during this time. It helps to ensure full nerve function to both mother and baby.

Cranial Adjusting Turner Style (CATS)

Developed by Dr. Roger Turner, CATS is a specific chiropractic technique to locate and correct misalignment of the bones of the skull that may have resulted from falls, accidents, blows to the head and difficult births. Cranial misalignment can be the cause of a number of symptoms including, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, blurred vision, ringing in the ear, altered coordination, speech difficulties and more. CATS treatments progressively realigns the skull, thereby improved function and healing and eliminating these symptoms

Chiropractors' Methods & Techniques

At chiropractic offices all over the world, different chiropractic methods and techniques are used to treat patients according to their individual needs. The most common are:

  • The Activator Method is an instrument-assisted treatment method used by some chiropractors to relieve back pain, neck pain, and headaches.
  • The Thompson Drop Technique employs a special chiropractic table that has sections that drop down as the chiropractor applies pressure to the patient’s back.
  • Diversified is a chiropractic adjustment technique that uses manual pressure and adjustment.
  • The Gonstead Technique is named after Dr. Clarence Gonstead, who developed this chiropractic approach which focuses on precise alignment of the spine.
  • The Palmer Upper Cervical Specific chiropractic approach was developed by Dr. D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic care. This technique focuses on correcting problems in the upper cervical region of the spine.
  • The Performance for Life assessment is a chiropractic technique that uses a computerized posture analysis system to assess a patient’s spinal health.
