Dr. Michael Friedman, Chiropractor
Dr. Michael Friedman,B.A., D.C.
Laughter is the best medicine!
Laughter is the best medicine! As a Chiropractor and part-time comedian, Dr. Michael Friedman firmly believes in this adage, placing it a close second to chiropractic care in contributing to overall well-being. With over twenty years of practice, Dr. Friedman uses a balanced approach to help his patients achieve and maintain a high level of health and wellness.
His system of care includes open discussions with patients about how nutrition, regular exercise, stress management, and chiropractic care all contribute to a healthy and pain-free life. This holistic approach helped him build one of Vancouver’s first integrative Wellness Centers before moving to Ottawa in 2008, where he continues to improve the quality of life for his patients at Back in Balance.
As a chiropractor, Dr. Friedman understands the intricacies of the nervous system and its critical role in maintaining health. His ongoing professional development in neurology, nutrition, and functional movement has allowed him to continually refine his methods to provide better care. This quest for knowledge led him to certifications in the Performance for Life Method (PFLM), a protocol used by professional athletes, and Cranial Adjusting Turner Style (C.A.T.S.), which has shown significant success in treating patients with headaches, post-concussion syndrome, and balance issues. Additionally, Dr. Friedman is certified in BioFlex Low Intensity Laser Therapy, an effective treatment for soft tissue injuries, arthritis, and more.
Advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation:
In line with his dedication to improving patient outcomes, Dr. Friedman has recently completed advanced training in Vestibular Rehabilitation through The American Posture Institute. This specialized training enables him to help patients experiencing dizziness, vertigo, and other balance-related issues. Vestibular rehabilitation is designed to address problems in the vestibular system—located in the inner ear—that affect balance and spatial orientation.
Through this new service, Dr. Friedman provides comprehensive assessments to understand each patient’s unique challenges. He develops personalized treatment plans that focus on balance training, visual and vestibular integration, and proprioceptive exercises. His goal is to empower patients with the tools and education they need to regain their stability and confidence, all while tracking their progress toward better balance.
Dr. Friedman’s mission as a chiropractor is to instill an appreciation for a balanced approach to healthy living in his patients and to raise awareness of the various ways to achieve physical and emotional well-being. As he often says: The healthier the individual, the healthier the community—and that’s no joke!
Patient Testimonials:
I was skeptical about this cranial adjusting but having had a few of these adjustments I can testify that my head feels a lot “lighter”. I have fewer headaches, my TMJ problems are greatly reduced. My sinuses are better since doing this too (although I didn’t even link those two things). I’m looking forward to doing more of these adjustments to see if it can help my mental health, concentration, sleep quality and balance. I am totally sold on this – I would probably go every day if I could.

I was initially skeptical of chiropractic, but after several months of
adjustments and cold laser therapy I truly feel better.
The cold laser therapy has essentially eliminated the chronic pain and
stiffness left from an old ankle fracture.
The chiropractic adjustments leave me feeling less stiff and more
limber, often lasting for days!
I would highly recommend giving these modalities a try!
