Chiropractor
I first discovered chiropractic in my early 20’s after a bout of debilitating back pain left me flat on my back for a few days. My mother
had been to a chiropractor after a bad car accident and sent me off to see her doctor. Not only did my back pain go away, but so did my irritable bowel and clicking jaw problems. I knew there was something to this and it inspired me to look into it as a career.
I was already a few years into my Kinesiology degree at York University and from this point on I knew that chiropractic was the career for me. My studies there had a heavy focus on anatomy and* biomechanics*, which helped prepare me for the four years of chiropractic education at Parker College of Chiropractic <http://parker.edu/Welcome_to_Parker_University.aspx> in Dallas, Texas. As a chiropractic student, I learned just how powerful and intricate the human nervous system is and why it is so vital to a healthy life. Consequently, the bulk of my post graduate studies have been in the areas of neurology and wellness, as I continue to improve my practice and learn new ways to help my patients.
I now know that the greater the function of one’s nervous system, the greater the quality of one’s life. My mission as a chiropractor is to help grow a community of health conscious individuals by strengthening their nervous systems to help them realize their full healing and human potential. By taking the time to listen to my patients needs and providing a very thorough and comprehensive examination, I aim to get below the surface level symptoms to find the actual cause of their health problems. One important observation I have made since starting practice is that no 2 bodies are alike and that people tend to respond differently to different types of care. Therefore, in order to help the greatest number of people to get the best possible results I have dedicated myself to learning different treatment methods using the latest technology in chiropractic. As a result, I am able to offer my patients a variety of treatment and diagnostic methods, allowing me to adjust treatments to suit each individual patient’s needs. In doing so, I provide gentle, passionate and dedicated chiropractic care, as well as specific wellness advice to help my patients strengthen their nervous system and maximize their own healing process.
My greatest pleasure in practice comes from witnessing this powerful ability to heal in patients who have come to chiropractic often as a last resort. These are people who are told they will have to “just live with” their condition or take strong and potentially harmful medications for the rest of their lives, yet get excellent results from chiropractic. While these patients experience the expected results of decreased pain and improved strength and coordination, the real satisfaction comes from seeing the changes that occur in their mood, balance and organ function. These cases clearly demonstrate that if the body is given the right resources and tools and there is no (nerve) interference, then it can heal itself. The only thing I am more passionate about than chiropractic is spending time with my family. This is the reason for moving back to my home province of Ontario after seven blissful years in Vancouver. My family and
I walk the talk when it comes to wellness. We are active in hiking, curling, cross country skiing and yoga-In fact it was at a yoga studio that I first met my wife. In addition to our active lifestyles, we also eat a balanced and healthy diet and use specific techniques to minimize our daily stressors. Of course, my wife daughter and I get regular chiropractic adjustments as well, as I strongly believe that chiropractic plays an important role in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
