Are processed foods lowering your children's IQ??

This might make you think twice before you let your children eat
processed-packaged, treats, lunches and dinners. It's sad to think that
what we feed our children between the ages of 3-8.5yrs old could set them back
or put them at a disadvantage!

Protect yourself from Alzheimer's

The food we eat is so powerful!  Cinnamon has been shown to have properties that help to prevent diabetes, and it is now being shown to protect from Alzheimer's disease.  Research carried out by a scientist associated with the US Department of Agriculture demonstrated that consuming cinnamon can actually reverse effects of the disease.  Cinnamon can be sprinkled over food, added to drinks, and can even be taken as a supplement!  Consuming half a teaspoon to a teaspoon a day appears to be the optimum amount for most people.

Medicinal properties of cinnamon

Very interesting....cinnamon dates back to at least 2800 B.C.  It has been shown to help regulate blood sugar and is said to help fight stomach ulcers and yeast infections.  It has even been used as a preserving agent as it has antifungal and antibacterial properties.

Isn't it great to discover that something really tasty can have such a positive impact on your health?

Traces of mercury found in brands such as Quaker, Kraft, Smucker's, Hershey's and Pop Tart

A new report from researchers states that 17 out of 55 products purchased contained traces of mercury.  Wow.

It appears that the processing that is required to make high fructose corn syrup can leave traces of mercury.  The really scary part is that as you read down the list of products mentioned in the link below, you can't help but think that these are products that are regularly consumed by children.  HOWEVER, this article states that the food industry maintains that the products are safe.  Hmmmm....  I wouldn't recommend that you stock up on any of these products or any processed food containing high fructose corn syrup.

The Dirty Dozen

The Environmental Working Group has created a list called the "Dirty Dozen", describing the produce that contains the most pesticides.  For example, some of these contain 47 to 67 pesticides PER SERVING.  Yes, that's right, per serving.  Shocking.

Thankfully, they also list the "Clean 15".  Buying organic can be more expensive, and these guidelines help to figure out where to spend extra dollars on organic produce.
