Wacky! Pea plant found growing in man's lung

Definitely the most bizarre news story I've seen in a while...this gentleman was admitted to the hospital with a collapsed lung, and it turned out that there was an actual pea plant growing inside of him!

Up to 77% of male fish in US River showing female traits

A recent study has shown that up to 77% of male fish in the Potomac River are showing female traits, such as the ability to produce eggs.  Scientists don't yet have a handle on WHY this is occuring.  It is suspected that birth control pills being flushed down toilets are making their way into the water.  Another theory is that household cleaning products are polluting the water.  Whatever the reason, there is no question that there is some sort of pollutant that is creating these changes.

Study: Bodychecks triple injury risk in youth hockey

As a chiropractor, I always cringe when I watch grown men getting bodychecked in hockey. I think about how all of these little injuries accumulate and can result in a lot of damage to soft tissues over time. I ask you to think about an 11 or 12-year-old player being bodychecked. Their bodies are not fully developed and just cannot easily sustain that type of repeated trauma. Thank goodness somebody has looked into this on a scientific level, this information is invaluable for those who establish hockey guidelines for children. See the link below to view the CBC's take on this study:
